She describes her sound as alternative, electronic R&B-infused dark pop, featuring haunting layered vocals, electric guitar, trap beats, heavy bass, brooding synths and ambient drones. Sølv writes from a deeply personal place, drawing on the parallels that exist within dark and light interspersed with relatable insights and philosophical references.
Listening to David Bowie, Roxy Music and Talking Heads at a young age paved the way for her experimental nature, whilst more conventional pop artists such as Banks, Lana Del Rey and Frank Ocean shaped her sound.
She first learnt to play guitar at the age of 15 and began performing at local venues. Growing frustrated that she couldn’t reach the sonic levels and depths she wanted to convey, Sølv began teaching herself music production.
After releasing two EP’s and two singles and gaining support from the likes of Noisy, Wonderland and Nylon; you can expect to hear a lot more music from Sølv in 2020.
This year has already seen Sølv release ‘Stripped Back, Live’ versions of ‘Codeine’, ‘Bittersweet’, and ‘Control’, the concepts of which were creatively directed herself. You can watch them on YouTube or IGTV.
