Carmen Villain, the US-born, half Mexican-half Norwegian, makes atmospheric music made up of tapestries of vocals, field-recordings, piano, guitars, programmed drums and synths.
She creates her own distinctive sound combining elements of ambient, experimental, avant-dub, fourth world, folk and electronics. Her debut album 'Sleeper' was released in 2013 via eclectic imprint Smalltown Supersound. In 2017 she returned with Planetarium EP followed by sophomore album 'Infinite Avenue', which features a guest appearance by fellow Norwegian experimentalist Jenny Hval as well as mixing work by Helge Sten aka Deathprod. Her third album 'Both Lines Will Be Blue' was her first fully instrumental album, released in 2019. 2020 saw the release of the 20 minute piece "Affection In A Time Of Crisis", on deep listening label Longform Editions, followed by an EP for Geographic North, 'Sketch For Winter IX: Perlita in early 2021.
