In December of 2016, Early Humans came onto the Nashville music scene with an unofficial and unrefined three-song demo released on their own record label, Zugzwang Records.
Since then, the band has steadily pumped out content with single "Verge" (May 2017) and their self-titled LP (November 2017). Their songs and hooks are simple and addictive while their arrangements maintain a colorful complexity. Their music has been described by The Deli Magazine as “electrifying” and “infectious”.
Hart and Ryan began collaborating in 2009 and have been making music together ever since. Their partnership has seen the rise and fall of a number of bands, the most recent of which dissolved in 2015. These breakups paved the way for a uniquely collaborative project between the pair, who shifted their focus towards common goal songwriting and recording. And thus, Early Humans was born.
Stylistically, they can be compared to a variety of bands such as Death Cab For Cutie, Coldplay, Say Anything, Wilco, Blur, or The Shins—and a list of their influences could carry on much longer.
The duo take an unconventional approach in their process, recording in their home studio in Nashville—eschewing outside producers or engineers for all of their past work. The duo continue to work on self-produced music and promise another LP in the near future.
