The Cleopatras early recordings consist of two 7”, “The Cleopatras” (2000) and “Let’s run with…” (2001). After a hiatus they returned in 2008 with a new line-up, which still remains today, and recorded the EP “Dame tu amor” and their first album “Things get better” in 2010 (Area Pirata).
In 2014 their second work “La maledizione del Faraone” was released on CD for the italian Ammonia Records and on cassette for the californian label Wiener Records.
Afterwards the band performed for the stylist Antonio Marras fashion show during the Milan Fashion Week, and for a tribute show for Lux Interior in Greece.
Their latest album “CleoPower!” was released in April 2017 for Ammonia Records.
A more mature record in terms of sound and contents, where the ironic and light-hearted spirit of the previous records has been replaced by more provocative lyrics that focus on situations where women are victims of stereotypes and cliché.
The sound of the Cleopatras is mostly influenced by garage, surf, power-pop and ‘77 punk: Ramones, The Cramps, The Trashwomen, The Sonics, New York Dolls, ecc..
A fresh, cheeky and ironic mixture of garage, punk rock and r’n’r, Rough&Girlie style.
