Hailing from Wellington, New Zealand, psych freaks The Spectre Collective utilise a mixture of off-kilter swampy grooves, mind altering psychedelia, and catchy kraut jams.
The core trio consists of Will Agnew (Mothers Dearest), Lochie Noble (Transistor) and Jonathan Shirley (Goya, Beatcomber), who conjure a hectic, eclectic, and epileptic collection of songs infused with paranoia and psychedelic unease.
After jamming together for a month, the The Spectre Collective's debut release 'Paleofuture' was written & recorded in a blur throughout September 2018. By using a minimal microphone set up and keeping the process entirely in-house (including recording, mixing and artwork), the band's "fuck it" attitude allowed them to churn through the recording process in speedy fashion. Already feeling restless after the release of 'Paleofuture', the band went straight back into recording, and released their 2nd album 'Cosmosis' in January 2019. Driven by warped time signatures, angular hooks and face melting polyrhythms, the album takes listeners on a journey from the depths of the earth to the infinite cosmos, and features an array of guest musicians from the Wellington music scene, including Gussie Larkin (Mermaidens, Earth Tongue), Anita Clark (Motte), Emerald Rose (Linen) and Jordan Edwards (Mothers Dearest).
