Staunchly elastic in style and with a passion for sonic unpredictability, Fashion Jackson exploded onto the musical landscape with a vengeance in 2017.
The band came together in the winter of 2016 and emerged the following year as a vicious musical antithesis to the status quo of their local San Diego, CA music scene.
The band began in earnest when vocalist/guitarist/lyricist Eddy Allen (formerly of The Walk Off) moved home to San Diego after a two-year stint in Boston. Guitarist/vocalist Matt Alcantara and drummer Shawn Gardner had been playing in various bands over that time period; Matt and Eddy had played in a reggae ensemble in high school whilst Eddy and Shawn had jammed in various musical projects around that time as well. After three months of meager productivity and a realization that none of them wanted to play bass, Sterling Gietzen (former sound man and occasional percussionist for the aforementioned reggae group) was recruited to round out the final lineup. The band began jamming and writing material that would eventually appear on its first three EPs during the first half of 2017. The self-produced Gossamer EP was released July of that year; two more EPs were produced and released over the remainder of the year by the band from Eddy's bedroom. 2018 has been a prolific year for the band, with singles Honey and Penelope preceding a compilation EP and collaboration with JARA. A debut album is currently in the works, with new guitarist Jake Nuffer.
