Overmood are from Alessandria, Italy. Matteo and Alessandro play together since their high-school times, when they were locally known as the hip-hop outfit called Astenía.
Growing up they moved to different kind of listenings: Pixies, Husker Du, Modest Mouse, Red Red Meat, Fugazi, Pop Group, Cap ‘n’ Jazz…
There was inspirations enough to form a new band, mixing lo-fi with hip hop, pop with electro, and adding guitars too. The demo of the track Pluton Planet became a favourite of the magazine Rumore, and it was enclosed in a compilation sold with #182. In 2004 Overmood were also the winners of the Alessandria Wave contest, and as prize they played at the Bilborock European Rock Contest in Bilbao, Spain. It was July ’05 when they recorded 3 tracks in Fiscerprais studio, with their longtime friend Rico of Uochi Tochi.
In March 2007 “Sorry for the Setbacks” was recorded, again at Fiscerprais Studios, with the help of Andrea Livraghi playing bass and Matteo Conti on guitars, then replaced by Riccardo Panelli. The record gained to the band a sort of cult following. People used to categorise music genres seemed not understanding it, but more became fans, loving the cool energy Overmood put LOUD on stage. Overmood toured around Italy for months, being also invited as headliner in France for the Barocks Festival in April 2008. Matteo realized under the moniker Overmood remixes for fellow label mates The Banshee and Damien*, with a growing fame spreading for his dj sets.
