Juwon Simmons is a Cameroonian-born music artist, writer and poet based in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he moved to in 2009.
Working on music alongside producers Dmitry Quik Ivanov and Darjan Dakey, while studying at the university, He released his first body of work in 2011 featuring tracks like "The Work" and "Make it better" which were instant favorites in the underground community in his city among others and received great reviews from Kingsize Magazine, Sweden's biggest urban music platform. He gained wider notoriety with the single "Celebrate" in 2013 which featured co-artist Mehari and producer Dakey and went into rotation on Swedish radio.
With several musical influences picked up as a child and time as traveling international student, his anecdotal /story-telling lyricism is influenced by the style of the griots of West Africa and the Hiphop styles of the Chicago and the Midwestern scene, strung to roots of Neo-soul, jazz, blues and modern Swedish indie and experimental sounds. His work focuses mainly on self improvement, society and the mind, Afrocentrism in relation to the world, power and socio-political paradigms, responsible freedom of action, expression and the link between self improvement and social reformation.
