Merique began her solo singing career at Age 14.
In 2012 she held 2 choreographed, sold out shows as fundraisers to represent South Africa at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood, where she went on to be The Champion of the World Division Winner for the age group 18-24. She was also the recipient of the highly acclaimed Industry Award.
In 2014, Merique released her first single, “Butterfl-eyes”. The song and music video caught the attention of Gordon Malboeuf, VP of A & R and Media Relations at Lunacy Records, Oklahoma City, OK. In August 2015, she was invited to the States to record a collaborative album at their studio (Studio 7) in Oklahoma.
Merique’s first (commercially released) album, "The Coming Dawn", was released Feb 2016.
A highlight from 2017 was her performance at Emirates Airlines Park, formerly known as Ellis Park, in front of 30 000 screaming rugby fans. Her album “The Coming Dawn” was considered for the 59th Grammy Awards and won the Akademia Award for best Pop/Rock Album. Her single, “Rivers”, won a Bronze medal in the Global Music Awards and the Akademia Award for Best Pop/Rock Song.
In 2018 “Rivers” dominated the Number 1 spot for multiple weeks on Australian Radio Station, "Die Strandloper Radio's" Top 5. “Nat Stof” soon followed in its footsteps.
Merique’s new album “Good’s Gonna Come” is due to be released on 15 March 2019, following the release of “Beauty Queen”, a single from the album, on 18 February.
