Chris Fortier drew inspiration from fellow DJs Dave Canalte and Kimball Collins in the early days of the 1990s when he began his own DJ career in Orlando, FL.
He progressed to a partnership by the mid-'90s at the label Fade while he continued DJing. It wasn't long before he established Balance Promotions in conjunction with partner Jimmy Van Malleghem. DJing has taken Fortier throughout Europe, where he has worked with John Digweed. He has also worked in Mexico, Holland, Greece, Hong Kong, and Buenos Aires. His mix albums include 1998's Atmospherics, V. 1.0: The Breaks, 2000's Trance America, 2002's Bedrock, 2005's Balance 007 and 2007's As Long As The Moment Exists.
