Since those early days he's gone on to perform over 100 shows per year across Canada and around the world with 7 album releases to his credit. A clever lyricist with a rootsy storytelling style, his energetic piano-based song writing is a reminder of the power of the classic singer/songwriters accompanying themselves on the keyboard. Critics have drawn comparisons to Harry Chapin, Kris Kristofferson, Carole King & Billy Joel.
Straker's 2017 album “Dirt Road Confessional” debuted at #5 on the iTunes Canada singer-songwriter charts and saw him tour over 200 shows across Canada, Europe and Latin America – from the Netherlands to Nunavut – including a debut at Canada’s National Arts Centre. In recent years he’s licensed songs for film, TV and theatrical use and has performed his music in sold-out concerts with symphony orchestras. In 2019 he won a Western Canadian Music Award and 2020 saw him named 'Roots/Folk Artist of the Year' in the Saskatchewan Music Awards. “Ready to be Brave” is the latest single from his upcoming (May 2021) full-length album, with previously released singles from the recording including "Morning Light", “Light a Fire” and “One Foot on Main Street”.
