Hailed internationally as a pioneer of electro-rock in Latin America, the Colombian band Estados Alterados was formed in the late 80’s in Medellín, when drug lords such as Pablo Escobar were wreaking havoc throughout the city.
More than 25 years later, EA continues to innovate. The band is composed of founding members Elvis (lead singer), Ricky (drums), as well as longtime collaborator Nati (keyboards) and Pipe/Wonder-B (guitar and bass) who officially joined in 2017.
Their 1990 self-titled debut album featured two hit singles, “Muévete and “El Velo”, today considered hymns of electro rock in Latin America. EA was the first Colombian band to play a video on MTV and they opened for Information Society in Medellín at the peak of the band’s fame. Two more albums were released in the 1990’s (Cuarto Acto and Rojo Sobre Rojo). After participating in a tribute album to The Cure in 1999, the band took a break to develop individual projects. They independently released Romances científicos (2010) and, after the departure of keyboardist Tato in 2011, Intruso armónico (2014). EA has played in various international festivals: Vive Latino (Mexico DF) South by Southwest (Austin, Texas), Latin Alternative Music Conference (New York, NY), Rock al Parque (Bogotá), Altavoz (Medellín)
In March 2018, EA opened for Depeche Mode in Bogotá, after an intense fan-led online campaign. In August 2018, they released their 6th album Lumisphera, produced by Amir Derakh (Orgy, Julien-K, Dead by Sunrise).
