Mercy’s sonic influences stem from both UK and US R&B, hip hop and trap recall artists like IAMDDB, RAY BLK and Sampa The Great. Nigerian music also impacts Mercy’s creations, with fusions of afrobeat featured throughout.
Currently, Mercy’s Cartel is presenting her new EP, D.Y.E. - an acronym for Doubt Your Existence - a title which is expressed through lyrical themes of self-challenge, bereavement, relationship deterioration and an ongoing struggle with mental health. With such weighty subject matter, Mercy’s vocal is intensely emotional, yet delivered with a sense of knowing wryness, maintaining a sense of fun and great depth of character.
With funding and support from The MOBO Awards and Help Musicians UK, Mercy is heading out on a 4-date UK tour, performing in Birmingham, Manchester, London and Bristol.
