Spending his formative years growing up in the USA (McLean, Virginia to be precise), Remi spent his youth listening to a vast range of music that his parents would play around the house, from afro-beat music to pop, rock n roll to soul, and all stops in-between. In terms of artists, Remi draws inspiration from musical greats, including the likes Marvin Gaye, Sade, Colin Blunstone, Fela Kuti, The Doors and Bob Dylan, and the calibre of such influences is certainly reflecting in his songwriting – thoughtful, catchy and distinctive.
Brighton has also served as a perfect place for Remi to hone his live act, with its bohemian aesthetic and modern way of life resonating with him and inspiring an active role in the live scene across town.
His previous and present works provides listeners a glimpse of the true Remi Miles sound – enticing, emotive and compelling with a perfect balance between connectivity and sagacity. Remi states: I've always found freedom, inspiration and curiosity within the nightlife of cities. There is always something new to learn, adventures to be had
