Chilean singer/songwriter and guitarist Daniel Puente Encina, awarded with The Lukas 2019 (UK), Runner Up in the category European Jazz/Folk Act of the year, is an unrepentant pioneer who performs with a refreshing disregard for musical conventions since his first, anti-fascist new wave/post-punk teenage-band Los Pinochet Boys (1984-1987) triggered a youth movement in Chile and has been honoured in various books and documentaries.
After moving to Hamburg he founded the Latin Ska-Rock-Jazz band Ninos Con Bombas (1994-1999). They received the John Lennon Talent Award in 1995 and published two albums, De Tiempo En El Momento De La Explosion (1996) and El Niño (1997). Songs such as Skreamska or Postcard became popular through worldwide radio airplay and video rotation on MTV.
Producing as Polvorosa (2000-2011) in Barcelona, his song Behind de mi House from Elektro-Clash album Radical Car Dance became an international dance floor hit and the video clip was included on the DVD The Most Spectacular Videos 2004 by MTV Spain.
Since 2012 he has been publishing music under his own name: His minimal Caribbean-Blues album Disparo was followed by the cosmopolitan and orchestral Chocolate Con Ají (2014) and his 3rd solo album Sangre y Sal (2019). Many of his songs can be heard in movies, such as Fatih Akin's In July or his multi award-winning drama Head On (Gegen die Wand).
Powerful poetry fused with instantly seductive rhythms and melodies, all penned by this avant-garde musical rebel.
