The Unclaimed was formed April 1979 in Sid Griffin's Palms, Los Angeles apartment by Sid and lead singer Shelley Ganz.
The idea was to have a 1960s' punk band hence the Unclaimed being one of the first groups to kickstart the garage band revival. Ganz has an Unclaimed today who still perform sporadically but the original lineup with writer/broadcaster Sid Griffin (later The Long Ryders, then The Coal Porters), Professor Barry Shank (Ohio State Univ.) and all-around musician Rich Coffee (his real name!) is long gone. The three tracks here are all Sid's songs and recorded circa 1981. The band's biggest following is in Italy. Yes, Italy. Go figure. The Unclaimed continue to turn down massive offers to reform and tour in the 21st century but who knows?
