Blooming Cellar, Singer-songwriter Kevin Howlett cannot be pigeonholed with a range of sounds from Lo-fi indie rock to folk electronica which delivers a delicate combination of melancholic and optimism in an Englishness that nestles easily in the ears but also sometimes can be ready and raw.
Blooming Cellar originally formed in London in the early 90’s firstly living in Hackney then Leyton and performing in venues around London such as The Dublin Castle, The Laurel Tree, The Falcon, The Orange, Monarch and Samuel Pepys. The name actually came from rehearsing in the cellar of the house in Hackney.
From white label vinyl to air play on the Radio 1 evening sessions decided by Steve Lamacq, Jo Whiley & John Peel, and touring Europe, being reviewed in Music Week by Steve Lamacq and performing in records shop in Avignon France Blooming Cellar/Keivin Howlett continues to love the form of song-writing and runs the music project called Bandit Music Projects for students please see

Blooming Cellar, whose single Purity Teen is a pretty thing, looks like Walthamstow High Street with a bit of late Eighties Leytonstone pop chic thrown in. The singer could be a bit of a star with his slightly faraway stage presence – and their gig at the Laurel Tree featured a few nicely bittersweet sparklers which sound quite neat in the autumn.
