The album is recorded at Kitchen Studio in Oslo, Norway, with overdubs at several other locations, one being Christoffer "Kid" Andersen's Greasland Studio in San Jose, California, where the "Sons of the Soul Revivers" recorded backup harmony on a couple of tracks. On most of the songs the backing is stripped down to the basic guitar (Håkon Høye), bass (Per Tobro) and drums (Vetle Larsen).
Håkon Høye has been active on the flourishing Norwegian blues scene since the mid 90’s and has played with a number of domestic and international blues and roots acts. He is a double Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann) winner with Billy T Band, and he's been a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) in Nashville.
The album "Nights At The Surf Motel" reflects Håkon’s different sources of inspiration – the classic Blues of Lightnin' Hopkins, The Gospel and Soul of Pops Staples and the good ol' Rock 'n' Roll of The Stones and AC/DC.
