    Running Out
Matt Conroy had just gotten back from Afghanistan, reunited with his dog, and was preparing for the transition of a lifetime: he was getting ready to move from Alaska and a promising career in the US Army, to North Carolina and a life of uncertainty in Country Music.
The stress and re-adjusting had him drinking regularly, and almost lost him some of the most important people in his life.
That's when Matt made a visit back home to Rochester, New York.
There, on the banks of the Genesee River, he found peace in the simplicity of home. He realized that he had written a number of songs during his deployment, and each one was a message to himself to get his mind right before he stepped into the next phase of his life...the only life he would ever have. "Genesee Country" was born.
Upon returning to Alaska, Matt sought help to work through his issues. He immersed himself into his first album, and in just under eight weeks, produced 13 tracks from his time in Afghanistan. He left the Army honorably, and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to join his partner, Angela.
Matt's style is a blend of neo-traditional Country Music with Folk/Americana storytelling influence. Fans have compared his songs to those of James Taylor and John Denver, but he credits his biggest influences as Johnny Cash, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, and Craig Morgan.
His songs aim to capture one main idea: you have one it.
