I started The Idol Killers after being silent in the realm of music for the last ten years. From 2006 to 2010, I sang in a metal band called, In The Wake. We played our last show in 2010 and since then I've finished a degree in Biology and wrote six books. When the pandemic hit, I found myself completely unmotivated to write anything. No books, no blogs, just depression. After a month of inaction, I started to think about music again. I'd always wanted to create beats and produce my own music but never sat down to do it. After writing my first song in this way, "Changing Truths", I'd rediscovered the insane love and passion I have for music that I thought might have left me. This project that holds influence in genres of electronic, hip hop, rock, and likely others is something that I've thrown my entire heart into. I'm not often genre-minded when writing music, so it's difficult for me to find exactly where this music fits. The name was influenced by biblical teaching suggesting that we don't put our faith in things (idols) that can't fulfill us. By no means am I some type of priest, as you will hear in my lyrics, but my beliefs and faith will come through in the music. The purpose of this music is to be creatively free and to remind you as well as me to always let our lives be guided by our hearts. -Mark Craven
