The Florin Street Band is the magical Victorian-themed creation of British singer-songwriter Leigh Haggerwood.
Leigh is a lover of musical theater, and a child of the 80's who grew up with yearly Christmas songs that added something special to the festive season - something he believes has been lost in recent years. So in 2010 he set about writing and performing an original Christmas song that would feature classic elements such as a full choir and a sting section. He recorded "My Favourite Time of Year" at Trevor Horn's Sarm studios in west London, England, and then went about making the most epic Victorian Christmas video possible on his small budget. The video was filmed at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire, and such was the enthusiasm for the project that it attracted some of the worlds top film makers and featured a cast of over 100 people. Since it's release, the song has been viewed by millions and covered by school, choirs, theatrical companies and even the US Amy BAND. This inspired Leigh to write an entire Florin Street musical which he is currently developing, and he continues to release new songs such as Winter Wonder and Light our Way, which are based on the musical.
