Founder members Linus Karlsson (lead vocals), Gabriel Westerlund (drums) and Eddie Zetterberg (keyboard) often hung out at a family restaurant in their native town, where a smoking lounge decorated with the portrait of the King of Sweden felt like the ideal place for creative discussions. That familiar space inspired the name “Kings Lounge”.
By the time Martin Tell (guitar) and Pontus Persson (bass) jumped in, their artistic intention was clear: Joining forces to further explore the beloved formula of pop rock with stadium dimensions.
The band became a local name in 2016 when they won a Swedish battle of bands known as “Popkorn”. Further regional recognition came along with their double performance as an opening act for contest “Idol” winner Chris Kläfford.
After releasing five singles and gathering an audience through the memorable earworm “Waiting”, Kings Lounge signed to Rexius Records in the summer of 2018. The band is now preparing for the release of an album produced by Alexander Asp that will be available next spring.
