Having released three albums under her own name in Australia and Japan, Sydney born Briana Cowlishaw takes an exciting demarcation from her jazz roots, bringing a new project to light - the electronic indie pop-infused 'Fetherstone'.
The project was inspired by her grandmother, Edith Cowlishaw (formerly known an Edith Featherstone), an acclaimed print making Australian artist who is 94 years of age and still holding exhibitions.
Based in London since 2015, the Debut EP (4 tracks released April through July 2017) was produced and engineered by London native Harry Tarlton (Kobalt, Union J, Stooshe, Warner UK, Sonny) and brings together the quirky sounds of electronic pop with the deeper, emotional explorations of Fetherstone's stories. Each song shares a sense of curiosity, searching for an answer and an understanding of life's daily mysteries; belonging, moving on, letting go, growing old, the struggle for kindness, being a woman... a creative woman...the list could go on!
Since April 2016, Fetherstone has been hitting stages around London with recent shows at Ronnie Scott's Upstairs, The Troubadour, The Bedford, The Islington and Upstairs at the Ritzy Cinema. She performs using an effects loop pedal, percussion and electronic drums, putting her delicate yet powerhouse vocals front and centre.
