Music became the perfect indulgence for her escapist tendencies. “I was in awe of how expansive, enveloping, and mysterious sound could be,” she explains. “Later on, as my family moved to England, and then, Texas, I felt more out of place and alien in a way and music became that much more integral— my way of understanding and communicating.”
She began taking voice and piano lessons at the age of 9 after moving audience members to tears during a school talent show performance. Her formal operatic training began at 16 when she started university. Around the same time, she began writing and recording her own music on an 8 track in the guest bedroom of her parents house.
At 20, Aimee moved to NYC alone with two suitcases in the dead of winter. She began performing around the city with just a keyboard. Later on, she released some recordings, gained traction, and put together a band. She currently lives in Los Angeles and concerns herself with curiosity, sensuality, and all of the feelings.
