At 13, Whyte Mtn. began writing poetry during his frequent lunch detentions. More than a pastime, it became a creative outlet. After watching the video "What You Know" by T.I., he redirected his efforts to writing raps and composing songs. He even joined his high school's hip-hop club, where he was encouraged to pursue his musical endeavor. During his college years, he took a hiatus to obtain his Bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing.
In 2016, Whyte Mtn. reunited with his long-time friend and sound engineer, Jared Hacmac. The duo went on to collaborate year-round to record, mix, master, produce, and promote his first mixtape, preCURSEr.
Whyte Mtn. is now an emerging artist in the Portland scene, making appearances in open mics, concerts, and rap competitions. Fans are especially thrown for a loop when they match his appearance - 6'2" stature, latino ethnicity, casual yet sharp dress attire - with his raspy voice. But because of those same reasons, his individuality is able to shine through the saturation and demonstrate why he deserves to reign among the top in the Pacific Northwest.
