Hakan Yılmaz is a Turkish songwriter and singer, writing and singing songs in the folk-pop genre. He was a founder of Ezginin Günlüğü, a top-ranking folk-pop group of Turkey.
He contributed to three albums of the group as a lead singer: “Sabah Türküsü” (The Morning Song) (1986), “Alagözlü Yar” (The Blue-Eyed Beloved) (1987), “Doğu Türküleri” (Songs from the East) (1988). Two new personal albums, “Sen Yoktun” (You Weren’t There) (2015) and “Türkülerle Yeniden” (Back Again with Folk Songs) (2017) have been released in İstanbul by Ada Müzik. He collaborated with the late Kadir Şan Tarhan, guitarist and composer, for his latest two albums. In the fall of 2019 he released two singles, “Aklım Hep Sende” (You’re Always in My Mind) and “Raylar Boyunca” (Along the Railways). Both of these songs were written by the artist and composed by the late Tanju Duru, a friend from the founding years of Ezginin Günlüğü. “Yol, Aşk, Zaman” (Road, Love, Time), which will be released in the second half of 2020, will be the artist’s fourth personal album, for which he worked together with Deniz Bayrak and Evren Arkman, guitarists, composers, and recording engineers. Hakan Yılmaz continues to write and sing new songs.
