Born William Devon-Lamont Hayes Jr., Portland rapper Bocha, aka Mocha with a B, developed his melodic, often abstract, zealous sound and style over a series of self-released singles and mixtapes during the mid 2010’s.
His earliest project, Misfortune In Portland (released 2015), featured rawer production while illustrating an everyday life of a delinquent from the northwest. Following up with a visual for his single, Misfortune In Portland, filmed by Nik (Puurple) Popp, he quickly became a forerunner for Portland’s hip hop scene. After dropping a visual for his smash single, Everyday (filmed by Puurple), Bocha released his, YET EP (released 2016). The vigorous, uptempo project brought the feel of a promising future for the young MC, and also featured, now label-mate, Donte Thomas. The two later came together to develop Produce Organic Records in which their collaborative project, Garden Boys EP (released 2017), was released under.
