A blend of mystical acoustic folk, sonic texture and a unique indie rock edge.
Inspired by Glen Hansard, Wallis Bird, Eddie Vedder, Ryan Sheridan, Pink Floyd, Jack Lukeman, Alanis Morissette, Love, Loss and Nature.
In 2015 he released his debut EP This Way Up and began touring and bringing his unique blend of folk and rock to audiences around Ireland.
April 2016 saw the release of his critically acclaimed second EP Tried & Treasured which included collaborations with musicians from many musical backgrounds; jazz, traditional and classical.
Touring continued throughout 2016 and in 2017 Barry Jay joined forces with Greg Clifford & Iann Brennan and embarked on a 3 act / 17 date / 3 week "Back To Basics" tour of Ireland. 2017 also marked his first visit to PolskaEire, a visit he would go on to repeat in 2018 and 2019.
The Acoustic Live & Honest album, a collection of live performances and radio sessions, was released in late 2017. Other releases include a Live EP Live at the Ghostlight Sessions, Balor Arts Centre and remixes of his own tracks Ballad of a Troubadour (AdamJLE) and Crying Shame (Gc Remix) (Greg Clifford)
2018 - 2020 brought the troubadour to gigs in the UK, Sweden and Poland.
Barry Jay is now recording his first studio album. The first single Diving In was released in Jan 2019 with follow up singles Replace & The Sound of Your Voice released in March & May 2019.
Just Be Honest With Yourself EP was released in Dec 2019.
