Albert Gold is a sweet soul man from Hackney in East London. In November he is releasing his
sophomore EP, succinctly titled ‘Second’, to tie in with his headline show at the nearby Sebright Arms on Wednesday 29th November. The current terrific lead-off single is a blast of slicked-back glitched-up soulpop freshness called ‘All This Time’ which was co-written with Fraser Churchill and produced by Albert’s live co-conspirator Cadit.
The ‘Second’ EP is indeed the second out of three Albert Gold Extended Play releases slated to come out over the next year. The first was the summertime ‘Oxygen’ EP wherein the lead track, much like was co- written with Sacha Skarbek in Kensaltown Studios, as is the mightily melancholic 'Turn To Stone' track on this here EP. And trust us when we say that mightily and melancholic; are two feverishly recurring words in Albert's world - not for nothing is one of these EP songs called 'Miserable' and comes armed with the saddest saxamaphone solo this side of 'If Leaving Me Is Easy'. Bolstered by live shows for Communion, Tipping Point, BMI / The Fix, London In Stereo, Sofar Sounds and Good Karma, and backed by consistent airplay support from Huw Stephens at Radio 1 and Gary Crowley at BBC Introducing London, Albert Gold put the finishing touches to the ‘Second’ EP at Red Bull Studios in South London late September. Now he returns to the east of town for this special launch party here:
