Mike Smith Saxophonist (AKA Ginger Tunes) has paid his dues as a sideman over the last fifteen years with the likes of Muffin Men (Zappa), Arthur Brown, Kid Creole, Heather Small, ABC and Sandi Thom to name a few.
A dedicated musician from the age of 10, he went onto study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) where he mentored with Steve Berry, Mike Walker and other luminaries of the British jazz scene.
Since then, his diverse and wide ranging experience as a sideman gave him the perfect platform to launch his own band, Ginger Tunes Quartet in 2009.
A 'polychromatic bonfire' of tastes and influences, GTQ are know for their live work at festivals and jazz clubs across the UK.
Most recently Mike was asked to head up the international brand CREAM as their sax/keys player for the CREAM CLASSICS show, alongside K-Klass and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
