Awarded as Colombia's Best Electronic Act, MITÚ is a "Techno From The Jungle" duo formed by Julián Salazar on synths and machines and the young percussionist, Franklin Tejedor.
Tejedor, hails from a lineage of musicians in the town of San Basilio de Palenque, the first free black town of the new world and a cultural space classified by UNESCO as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Alongside family members, Tejedor had also played drums with Las Alegres Ambulancias, San Basilio de Palenque's most iconic band. Salazar, was the lead guitar player for Bomba Estéreo. for 10 years.
"MITÚ takes full advantage of what roots and electronica together can accomplish. Its sound emerges from the the infinite variations that equipment allows yet it is nurtured by the deep wellspring of a centuries-old music. In an act of musical Afrofuturism, MITÚ travels to the Palenque of the future — a walled refuge where, free of constraints, two artists create a new language to speak to each other and through it are able to express an astounding range of emotions." - NPR
MITÚ has released one EP and three LP's: "Potro" (2012), "Balnear" (2014), "Siempre" EP (2015) and "Cosmus" (2017), the last released under the avant garde latin electronica label ZZK Records.
2017's MITÚ "Cosmus Tour" took them all over Europe and the Americas: 11 countries, 26 cities and 16 festivals. For 2018, MITÚ has confirmed shows at Lollapalooza Argentina, Lollapalooza Chile, and several tours in Latin America and Europe.
