Singer-songwriter Jennifer Berning picked up a guitar at age 14 to become a rockstar and play in a punk band.
As she discovered that her tender voice wouldn’t meet the standards, she traded the electric guitar for an acoustic one. Still, the simplistic approach and stripped-down instrumentation has stayed with her, as well as the DIY ethic that manifests itself in her self-produced one-woman band YouTube videos. Whilst her unconventional use of bathroom or kitchen utilities shows her sense of humour, her original songs unfold a dark, heart wrenching melancholy examining the biggest questions and sorrows in life. But just as much as those topics can make you feel lost, the playful melodies and folky sound of her songs will find – and never leave you again.
