Their approach to music is raw and edgy. Nothing is over refined and you can hear every instrument being performed organically.
As Johannes describes their music, Al Fama goes hand in hand with the four seasons of Finland:
‘’Most of the time it’s dark and gloomy and when the spring suddenly arrives, things get a bit manic, as people are not yet ready for that light. With some time though, everything calms down for the summer. One could even say that our music is related to the burbling sound of those fountains. In the finnish language, we would call that type of soundscape as soljuva.’’
As good as their music sounds, Al Fama is undeniably a very inspiring platform for other forms of art.
‘’ I’ve gotten the chance to work on the album covers and other visualizations. Some of the lyrics go very deep into different challenges that Johannes has been facing throughout his life. One of them is bulimia for instance. Even though It is obviously a cruel thing to hold on to, together with their music & lyrics Al Fama is absolutely inspiring for my own work.’’
After the band became established in 2016, they’ve gotten a strong hold of their craft as a unit. With every new song they express themselves more.
