Take A Chance is the highlighted single off of producer Ryan Gray (professionally known as Luxley)’s forthcoming “Chromatics” EP (scheduled for March 22nd, 2019).
The Chromatics EP comes from Luxley’s condition "chromasthesia", a syndrome he lives with that causes him to unconsciously associate sounds with colors. This record is much different from Gray’s last. “Chromatics” marks a departure from the traditional studio model of working with an outside producer. After spending a lot of time dabbling in synths, electronics, and getting to know himself more as a musician the past few years, Gray realized that he was passionately building a vast library of colorful sounds, textures, and pop-centric melodies that had no resolution to them. He decided to collect his favorites and put them into an EP arranged by the colors he sees.
The Chromatics' single “Take a Chance”, is a percussive yet moody yet danceable bout of magenta and black.
Luxley has previously toured with Bombay Bicycle Club, Milo Greene, and Mystery Skulls (LA). In addition, he has shared the stage with Chris Baio of Vampire Weekend and Transgressive Records’ Let’s Eat Grandma. He has been featured twice on Spotify New Music Friday for his songs “Camera Lens” and Great Good Fine Ok’s remix of his song “Spirit”. His debut EP Spirit was released in July of 2016 and received critical acclaim in the blogosphere, including writeup by The Huffington Post, NYLON, and the Andy Warhol-founded Interview Magazine.
