Unrivaled in her ability to transmute emotions into words and be the voice from which Mother Nature speaks, poet/spoken word artist Egypt English's poetry is confidence and power. Her 2019 debut, "Opening Ceremony Vol. 1: The Birth of Egypt English" narrates her battles from a place filled with anxiety and self-doubt to a place strength and sovereignty. Her style merges theatrical performance, poetry reciting, and Hip Hop, with an array of neo-soul, gospel, and R & B influences. Egypt's spoken word addresses themes ranging from self-empowerment to natural cosmological order, while being sprinkled with religious, spiritual, and socio-political allusions. Egypt English has worked on projects with a wide range of artists, labels, and producers, including Grammy-nominated producer Ben Rubin. Her catalog includes artists like Tim Wayne, D'Jon, Burna, and King Frank May. Egypt English, (O’Dellshae TruVarsha Wiles Robinson El Bey), grew up in Saponi country at Ringgold, Virginia. Egypt began writing poetry in Kindergarten and fell deeper in love with the art form as she matured. She studied Creative Writing and Theatre and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English Literature at Frostburg State University; and met her husband, King Frank May.
