Ole Amund Gjersvik studied at the Grieg Academy/Bergen Conservatory of Music, where he has also taught.
As a performing musician, he has led his own trios, quartets and quintets as well as tango orchestra Combo Tango. Gjersvik is very versatile and has played with musicians and groups like Kenneth Sivertsen, Karl Seglem, Ketil Bjørnstad, Knut Kristiansen, Dag Arnesen, Olav Dale, Jan Kåre Hystad, Carsten Dyngeland, Per Jørgensen, Into The Beast, Cooly Horn, Barbro Husdal Quartet, Poems For Trio, Bergen Vista Social Club, Trang Fødsel, Kaizers Orchestra, Mostly Robinson, Lollipop, Britt-Synnøve Johansen and 68 Experience. Gjersvik has also worked a lot with norwegian poets like Ragnar Hovland, Frode Grytten and Pedro Carmona-Alvarez. Gjersvik has been widely used in theater (DNS) and television (NRK & TV2) projects. Gjersvik has participated on more than 200 albums. Under his own name, he has published 20 albums.
To name a few of them: “A Voice from the Past” (1990), “Milonga Triste” (1998) and “All Together Now” (2014), among others, and “Combo Tango Plays Music by Ole Amund Gjersvik” (2002). He has received numerous awards and honors, including Rolf Gammleng Award in 2000. In 1990 he founded his own label, Acoustic Records.
