The transcultural project LOS PISTOLEROS started in 2009 when the two brothers Mauricio and Juan de La Boca met after spending several months in Latin America.
While Juan lived most of the time in Mexico falling in love with genres such as Banda Sinaloense, Rancheras or Cumbias Norteñas, Mauricio travelled South America sponging up all different kinds of Cumbia, from Argentina, Chile & Peru up to Colombia. Being a profound bow before Latin American culture, many claim to have found a unique style in the band, dirtier than traditional Cumbia but cozier than normal Rock’n’Roll, a genuine genre which they call the MEXICAN MUSTACHE MAMBO. Today the Pistoleros family includes uncountable friends of the De La Bocas, the project seems to be a magnet for alternative Latin musicians. They just released their new single “La Yaquesita”, a project that involves a featuring of north Mexican composer Manuel Rodrigo “El Yaqui” (Los Tigres del Norte / Valentín Elizalde) as well as Cumbia Legends Mario Galeano (Ondatrópica / Frente Cumbiero/Mixing) and Eblis Álvarez (The Meridian Brothers/Mastering) from Bogotá / Colombia. The band has also participated in collaborations with famous German alternative artists, such as LaBrassbanda and Sportfreunde Stiller.
