A Toronto-based singer, songwriter, and producer, Charlotte Day Wilson blends R&B, folk, and jazz in her music.
She grew up listening to Motown and bluegrass, and began playing piano at an early age. She went on to learn saxophone and guitar, and sang with the R&B group the Wayo while studying women's studies and music in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Wilson left school to focus on songwriting during a six-month stint in Montreal, then returned to Toronto to intern at the Arts & Crafts label and perform with the Wayo. She taught herself how to produce music, and went solo in 2016 with the single "Work" and her debut EP, CDW, which also featured production work by River Tiber. That year, she also collaborated with BADBADNOTGOOD on their '70s-tinged single "In Your Eyes." In 2017, she appeared on Daniel Caesar's single "Transform," and at the end of the year, she released her own track, "Doubt." ~ Heather Phares
