Clarissa Bitar is a Palestinian oud musician and composer born and raised in Los Angeles. A touring musician, Clarissa has performed nationally and internationally, both solo and with prominent musicians.
Known for her virtuosic technique on the oud and mastery of Arab music theory, Clarissa has performed at a number of academic institutions across the United States. She has collaborated with various prominent artists, and taught Arab music theory and oud for over 6 years. A graduate of University of California Santa Barbara College of Letters and Science, she first studied oud under Dr. Scott Marcus, professor of Ethnomusicology. After receiving a degree in Music with an emphasis in Ethnomusicology, Clarissa began studying with prominent Arab musicians including Simon Shaheen, Bassam Saba, and Charbel Rouhana. She was recently featured in She Shreds Magazine issue about prominent female oud musicians.
