Kero Uno is a producer and DJ from San Jose, California. Aka Kero One for most of his career performing as a rapper, Kero released his self-produced single “Check the Blueprints” in 2003 and quickly found underground fame in Japan for his niche jazz hiphop sound.
Despite being a non-mainstream artist for most of his career, Kero has attracted the attention of some of music’s biggest names including co-signs from Stevie Wonder, Will.I.Am, and Aloe Blacc and later went on to produce for Korean artist Park Kyung of Block B, where their track "Ordinary Love" became the #1 song in Korea. In 2015, Kero Uno decided to go full steam as a composer and released his first album "Reflection Eternal" strictly as a producer (watch the making of on youtube). Per usual, Kero infused his keyboard, bass, and percussion playing abilities with vintage drum sounds and thoughtful arrangements but this time working with other vocalists. Once released, the album showed up on Reddits best of 2015 albums and its songs were featured in H&M, Grown-ish on ABC, and Asiana Airlines to name a few. In 2017, Forbes Magazine wrote a feature piece on Kero’s music, calling it “a grand exercise in mixing modern sensibilities with old-school, funk-inspired sounds”. Kero hopes to take the vintage styles that inspired him and modernize it even more on his sophomore release which he deems will be his best production work to date.
