Ever so Still
I truly appreciate you taking the time to listen to my music. I hope you find something of meaning and relevance.
An ever-emerging theme in my music is a quest for beauty, an awe of nature, and the elusive sublime. I'm a pianist/composer/educator/organist who serves as professor of music and interdisciplinary studies and chairs the Division of Arts and Humanities at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. I've been fortunate to perform and/or lecture abroad extensively in my role as endowed Mary Jo Ragan Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies, including research presentations, workshops, and/or performances in Greece, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland, Japan, Estonia, and Hawaii. My Bachelor's and Master's degrees are in music education and piano performance, respectively, and my Ph. D. is a unique interdisciplinary fine arts degree with an emphasis in composition and piano pedagogy. I have written over 500 compositions and am a member ASCAP. My compositions and creative works span multiple genres. Print music editions of many of my compositions through various publishing houses as well as Sheet Music Press. In the 1990s, I recorded compositions on the Opus One label. I've been fortunate to receive university awards and I've been a finalist for the state of Oklahoma Medal of Excellence in TeachingAward on three occasions. I'm grateful for all the experiences life has provided me. Again, my deepest appreciation to you for allowing my art to be a part of your life.
