Fear Rua makes psychedelic ambient/trance music, and has been actively creating online since 2016.
The main musician behind Fear Rua is Dylan Michael Murphy, a music teacher and performer from Rhode Island. Dylan began to play the piano at the age of three, when his grandmother taught him on her upright; music remained a constant presence throughout Dylan's education, culminating in his playing in the UMass Amherst Minutemen Marching Band, playing shows at Gillette Stadium and marching in the Plymouth Thanksgiving Day Parade. Since then, Dylan has performed in classical, jazz, and rock settings, both as a performer and a bandleader. Although his technical background is primarily jazz piano, Dylan uses Fear Rua as an outlet for more experimental musical compositions.
For the project Emotional Snapshots, Fear Rua included Dylan Michael Murphy on piano/keys and special guest Max Warden on guitar. This was an impromptu jam session after a heavy trip in the Happy Valley, recorded onto an Adventure Time flash drive.
Broad Humanity is a droning tone poem based around a Walt Whitman quote.
The piano album is a straightforward and stripped down collection of improvised piano compositions. "The Basement (12/26/2026)" is similar, but different. "Amnesia Haze" is kind of like "The Basement", but a little different.
The rest of the Fear Rua discography is nothing like that.
