Bamboo Star was created by Australian/Hong Kong Wolf Red (front man and vocalist) and Canadian/Hong Kong Terence Ng (lead guitarist), who together with Hong Kong locals Jasmine Wong (bassist) and Lawrence Wong (drummer) are making some of the most captivating rock music out of Asia. The name Bamboo Star is an English homophone for an old Cantonese slang for a person caught between Chinese and Western cultures. The band says, “Our music is for anyone who has ever felt like they fit in everywhere and nowhere.”
Like their fast-paced city, Bamboo Star’s music is high-energy and full of witty, lyrical punchlines. The band has recorded a collection of songs with LA-based producer Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Airbourne, Shinedown) which will be the much-anticipated 2018 release.
As rock musicians, the band believes that rock music can connect people in 2018 and beyond. “Rock has always been anthemic for people rallying against injustices,” the band says, “And has been the voice of the disenfranchised.”
