"A captivating ensemble destined for greatness" Moggblog
Thank you for visiting our page, our names are Caitlin Laing (vocals) and Tom Chapman (bass). We're difficult to pin down into a genre, we flow between art rock to folk and pop with subtle electronic and classical undertones. What ties all this together is the honesty and vulnerability woven into our storytelling, using music as a platform to explore life, loss, love and everything in-between. With influences ranging from James Blake and Moses Sumney, to Kate Bush and Muse.
At the core are alternative vocals and bass guitar, but our philosophy is to make each live performance different by constantly varying line-ups and arrangements, making every version of each song unique - both live and in the studio. We met studying in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music and since then have recorded our debut E.P. This Too Shall Pass, we performed a self-organised tour of South Africa and the UK. Go check out our track Dear Katie, we're grateful for all your support.
The origin of the name Oystercatcher lies with a type of bird that lives on the beaches near Caitlin's family in North Wales. They are incredibly sweet and remind her of a feeling of contentment and happiness.
