As belgian pianist and composer Bram De Looze found his way to music by starting to play with LABtrio together with drummer Lander Gyselinck and bassist Anneleen Boehme.
Within two years he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Jazzpiano at the Lemmensinstituut and in one year he gained his master’s degree at the Artesis Conservatory in Antwerp. He was granted a BAEF scholarship from the Belgian American Educational Foundation to study at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.
In New York he took lessons from Uri Caine, Marc Copland and Reggie Workman.
In 2014 De Looze launches an international septet called Septych. With diverse and astounding improvisors like Daniel Levin, Robin Verheyen, Gebhard Ullman, and Flin Van Hemmen he sets on a musical exploration journey.
After paying a visit to the historical collection of pianofortes of Chris Maene, he starts his first solo project Piano é Forte. Playing on three pianos, Bram reinvents jazz composition and improvisation. In 2016 he received an SABAM Jazz Award for young talent at the Gent Jazz Festival. He won the price at Klara 2018 best musician of the year.
As a sequel to Piano é Forte, Bram De Looze comes with a brand new solo project. Chris Maene chose De Looze as jazz ambassador to make use of the revolutionary, straight strung Chris Maene Concert Grand Piano.
At the Classical Music Awards (the Klara’s) Bram De Looze won the award for Most Promising Young Artist of the year 2018.
