After moving with her family to Portland, Oregon in 2006, McDade became an avid participant in the music and theatre spheres of the city. As a teenager, and through to her first years at Oregon State University, she continually participated in choirs, musicals, benefit concerts, and contributed to both studio recordings and musical enrichment programs. She spent her third year of college at The University of Glasgow, back in Scotland, where her love for American folk music first began to blossom. After two years of writing and recording a collection of demos both in Scotland and Oregon, her debut album was recorded at The Trench Studios in Portland under the wings of engineer/producer extraordinaire, Gregg Williams. To Call Home was released in April 2018.
McDade spends her time off the stage as a music instructor in Salem, Oregon.
