Luís Figueiredo is a pianist, composer, arranger and musical producer born in Coimbra in 1979. He studied piano at the Coimbra Music Conservatory and later at the University of Aveiro and also at the Hot Clube de Portugal, Lisbon.
He studied with Vitali Dotsenko, Mário Laginha and António Chagas Rosa, amongst others. He released his first album as a leader in 2010 (Manhã, JACC Records). Figueiredo has worked and/or recorded with Cristina Branco, Bruno Pedroso, Carlos Bica, André Fernandes, Luísa Sobral, Alexandre Frazão, Reinier Baas, João Moreira, Mário Delgado, Bernardo Moreira, David Binney, João Hasselberg, Perico Sambeat, Marcos Cavaleiro, Mário Laginha, Ricardo Toscano, Eduardo Raon, Rita Maria, Mário Franco, and Carlos Barretto, among many others. He has worked with Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra XXI, Hr Frankfurt Rundfunk Big Band (DE), Orchestre National de Bretagne (FR), Het Gelders Orkester (NL) and others, as well as chamber ensembles such as Ana Quartet and Simantra Grupo de Percussão. He worked with directors Cesário Costa, António Lourenço, Rui Pinheiro, Jamie Philips, Jan Wierzba and Dinis Sousa. He was the arranger of the winning song at the 2017 Eurovision Contest, “Amar Pelos Dois”, and also the composer of the soundtrack for the 2018 edition. Luís Figueiredo has also earned a PhD in Music at University of Aveiro, where he worked until 2019. That same year he founded the independent label Roda Music, along with Rita Maria and Mário Franco.
