Northern Norwegian songwriter and artist Vidar Vang began to write songs in his early teens in Bjerkvik, a small town above the Arctic Circle in Norway.
He released his unofficial, acoustic debut album “Blue” in 1998. In the summer of 2000 he moved to Oslo and signed his first major label deal, with EMI, a year later. His Norwegian Grammy-nominated official debut album, “Rodeo” (produced by Seasick Steve and Cato “Salsa” Thomassen), was released in 2002.
Vidar Vang went on to release six albums in English, before switching to his native language with “Vårres egen lille krig” in 2015. Upon this release, Norways’s biggest newspaper VG, labelled him “A songwriter in his own class”.
Since 2002 Vidar Vang has toured extensively throughout Norway, and continuously had songs listed on Norwegian radio. His live shows are intimate - often with just Vidar, his guitar and stories in-between his songs.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Vidar took a trip down to his basement. There, in a cardboard box, he found 40 unreleased recordings and songs from his English years. Three albums, "Sidewalk Silhouettes Vol. 2-4", was put together and mastered in May. The three archive releases will all be released in the summer of 2020.
