Dokkodo Sounds is the moniker of electronic producer, Thomas Trueman. The name derives from a book, The Dokkodo (The Way of Walking Alone), which was written by one of the greatest swordsmen in 1645 Japan, Miyamoto Musashi.
He wrote the book in preparation for his own death, and it contains 21 precepts on how to best live your life.
The ‘Sounds’ aspect to the alias stems from the depth of genres Thomas works within. Often existing somewhere between the dance floor and headphones, soft Techno beats can pulse under evolving soundscapes, layered with hazy samples and distant vocals. Other times lo-fi melancholia wraps itself around lo-fi beats and ambience.
During live sets, Thomas breaks down his tracks and remixes them into a completely new context. The live shows are a mix between dance beats and ambient sections, that will make you reflect whilst moving.
