The new album, Bear Bones (out July 2019), sees Cade move into a more dynamic and musically upbeat vain from the laid back, sombre and at times disturbingly dark first solo album. The tales of the everyday struggles of life are still there, but maybe presented at a more musically accessible way. The album sweeps from full band numbers such ‘He Lies on his side’ and ‘Who will be the first to fall‘ to acoustically led ‘Dust’ and ‘When you come running‘.
The album pitches through the ups and downs of life changing choices, denial, manipulation, loss, love and finding yourself.
REVIEW:
If distinct is what you are after then Jack Cade has it in spades. From the moment he opens his mouth on the opening track "Yella Green Grass" you realise that convention is out of the window. Songs are delivered in a deep growly drawl with Cade making a virtue of a voice so raw that it almost makes Johnny Cash seem operatic and Dylan the voice of an angel.
